Deep Sand Station concept sketches of the freighter rig

The Request

Produce 3D models from sketched designs, for a comic book reference.

So that comic artist, Jason Brubaker, could use them to shoot a quick render frame, and draw over them for his graphic novel Shithra. This way, his process and time to draw complex machines and vehicles, which shows in several pages, get shorter.

The Process

Since Jason provides all the sketches with his design and notes…

There was only one thing less to do, start modeling it.

And since no material, animation or render was required, the model was delivered in gray.

While I do it…

I imagine him using the model, looking for locations, as a film director scouting a location for good shots.

So, I include details and places that inspire good frames for him to draw.
