Challenge. A collectibles venture needed promotional animation for three items (a signed jersey, a prop blaster and a helmet mask) ahead of a digital launch, with only a handful of reference photos, some of them low quality.

Inputs. Client photos of the physical items. No CAD files, no measurements.

Deliverables. Accurate 3D reconstructions of each item, materials matched to the originals, and promotional animations.

Channel. Launch promotion for a collectibles / NFT drop.

The Task

Create a digital version 3D model of a real collectible item., and animate it, so that is use for social media promotion.

So, I started  by collect images as references and create my reference wall.

The Process

The Jersey was made using cloth simulation method, and some sculpt manipulation.

Adding textures and creating the set props was relatively fast. For the Jersey’s animation, I use again cloth simulation to avoid it looking stiff.

ANIMATION

The Task

Create a digital version 3D model of a real collectible item. Then animate it for social media promotion.

As always, I started  by collect images as references into a digital wall mosaic.

The Process

With that in place, I started to model the gun or blaster as close as possible to the reference from photos.

After that, I added the materials, taking care to include the imperfections as close as the real item has. When the blaster was finished, I created the set where it will be placed for the animation, and also following the real item references.

ANIMATION

The Task

Create a digital version 3D model of a real collectible item. Then animate it for social media promotion.

So, I started  by collect images as references. Some provided by the client, others from the Internet.

The Process

With that in place, I started to model the mask as close as possible to the reference from photos.

After that, I added the materials using reference from the motion picture, where I add some imperfections to make it feel more realistic. When the mask was finished, I created the set for the animation, which include the cage where the item is placed.
